yesterday (2001)
The initial d press production. When our suicidal narrator (Everett Lowe) is dumped by his girlfriend (Athena Pangikas) on the night he plans to propose, he's understandably upset. Things get worse from there and we hear the whole sordid story related to the answering machine of his professor. yesterday was the talk of the 2001 Geneva Film Festival where it won 3 of the 4 awards for which it was nominated.
The chances that you'll actually be able to watch yesterday are pretty slim, but the spirit of the film lives on. Obviously, it's the film that started it all, but the story re-surfaced in novel form in window shopping (2003), and that novel came up again in L'Attente (2006) and gravida (2007). Matt Reed has composed a song based on the film (also titled "yesterday") for his up-coming Bridges of Pittsburgh album. It was even parodied in a film by Levi Stahl.
